I had the honor of seeing Lovey Kaur for ADHD treatment. Before seeing Lovey, I was feeling that my life was a mess; I was having lots of difficulty coordinating various aspects of my life. There were also other things in me, which I felt that most people did not have, so I suspected I had ADHD. I reached out to Lovey to obtain an ADHD diagnosis and see what could be done about it. I was eventually diagnosed with ADHD and social anxiety, though I decided to get treated solely for ADHD.
I had to face several challenges in the first three months I was getting treated for ADHD, and Lovey was able to help me get through it. A few of those stemmed from the fact that I come from a South Asian family – mental health issues are a huge stigma in South Asian culture and these issues are commonly denied to exist or extremely frowned upon. Lovey was able to give me advice that helped me navigate through this.
It was very clear to me that she is selfless and genuinely cares about her patients. Because I was seeing her during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lovey offered both telehealth and in-person sessions. There was an in-person session I had scheduled with her, but I had to cancel it last minute. I was only able to schedule the next session a few weeks afterwards. However, Lovey made the effort to make sure the next session would be in-person, as I would have liked, and I was the only person scheduled that day to have in-person session. Even then, she was willing to go to her office just to be able to hold an in-person session for me.
Currently, I feel I am finally able to have control of my life that I have desired. I also feel as a result of my ADHD diagnosis, I am able to understand many of the challenges I have faced in my life since I was a child. I am grateful to have Lovey help me with this process.
