Teen Counseling for Aurora (IL), Wheaton (IL), Naperville (IL): Specific Areas
Behavioral problems, low self-esteem and ADD/ADHD are among our areas of primary focus in teen counseling.
Behavioral Problems
Behavioral problems can range from temper tantrums and acting out to drug and alcohol use/abuse, truancy or promiscuity. At times, you might feel like you’re losing control of the situation – but know we’re here to work with you and your teen.
Through our teen counseling, we will help your teen recognize their destructive behaviors and help them develop a plan to eliminate them. We will also work with you directly to help you better understand your teen’s behavior and manage it with less stress and greater effect.
Low Self-Esteem
In today’s world of intense peer pressure and underweight models, low self-esteem is becoming a bigger problem among teens as well. Self-esteem is defined as a collection of beliefs and feelings we have about ourselves. They affect our motivation, attitude, behavior and ability to adjust our emotions.
During our teen counseling for Naperville, Wheaton and Aurora, we will work with your teen to examine the beliefs they have about themselves and to help them challenge and reframe those beliefs in a healthier way. We will also work with you and your partner to better understand your teen’s self-esteem issues and how you can contribute to resolving them.
ADHD
A diagnosis of ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) can also be a difficult time for teens and their families. Symptoms can include poor performance in school, social difficulties, poor organizational skills, short attention span and impulsivity, to name a few.
Our teen counseling for Wheaton, Naperville and Aurora helps families and their teens adjust to their diagnosis and manage their symptoms more effectively.
